You know those kids that can’t sit still? The ones that make noise when they shouldn’t? The ones who sit around asking a million questions sponging up “grown folks business” until they are sent off to bed? KO^ the Katalyst is still that kid.

KO^ (Komica Junaid) is a creative Swiss army knife: a composer, producer, and music supervisor. This Kansas native got her creative range from her early days in church where she was strongly encouraged to fill in the musical gaps of their small congregation. She started on the drums (inspired by Shelia E) and then found her way to piano, but it was learning the Organ from a barbershop quartet singer that led her to her ultimate love in music: harmony. Layering harmonies would become the signature sound of her musical storytelling. From her roots in the Midwest country, to her cultivated west coast cool, her gospel start to her hip hop/pop heart; this diversity and mixture informs her capacity to serve each project as individual and unique as the creators she collaborates with.
